Service Dogs of Virginia, Inc. (SDV) was founded in 2000 by Founder and Director of Training Peggy Law. SDV raises, trains and places dogs to assist people with disabilities. We start with 8 week old pups and place dogs at the age of about 2 years. Our organization places highly trained dogs that perform a wealth of tasks fostering greater personal freedom and independence. We are based in Charlottesville, Virginia.

We are a 501(c)(3) organization reliant on private donations and foundations to carry out our work. We raise the funds necessary to place dogs without cost so that need, rather than income, determines who receives a service dog. Service Dogs of Virginia is member of Assistance Dogs International, a coalition of not-for-profit organizations that trains assistance dogs.

We make placement only to clients living in Virginia.
